A Healthy Lifestyle Starts with Nutrition

Everything we eat has an effect on how our body functions.  The funny thing is, you might not even notice that your body is working less than par because of and nutrition.nutrition vegetables and fruit  It wasn’t until I actually cut sugar out of my daily diet that I felt amazing.  My body  suddenly felt like a lean and clean machine.  The kicker is that I always thought of myself as a healthy eater.  I did however begin to read labels and did not purchase any foods that had more than 8 grams of sugar per serving, which I quickly learned was not that easy.  There is a LOT of sugar in nearly everything.

Read Product Labels

I started reading the product labels and learned how much sugar was in my yogurt and fruit cups, etc. and was astonished.  Some yogurts have up to 28 grams of sugar per serving, which is crazy bad for you.  So I switched to Fage, which only has 9grams.  I mix it with fruit I have cut-up at home, some Hemp seeds and organic honey.  No pasta and bread at dinner.  I stuck to  veggies, protein, fruit & grains for my nutrition goals.  The biggest thing I did was delete all soda’s and stopped adding sugar to my coffee.  I’m happy to say I have not had a sip of any kind of soda in over six years.

Within about two weeks I had an overall better feeling.  I splurged one night and ate some pasta and then felt so weighted and heavy.  My body actually felt sluggish.  Then I realized that I had always felt like that and just took it as normal.  I didn’t even know what feeling good actually felt like, until I cut the sugar out.

Think of your diet as your medicine and nutrients for your body and your mind.  Take it seriously and not jot just for convenience.  Stop the addiction to sugar.  As you ween yourself off of sugar, your body will stop the cravings for it.  It’s much like any other addiction.  You have to be strong and stay true to your nutrition goals.  Know that every milestone is an accomplishment you should be proud of.
